Description

Coated VICRYL™ Absorbable Suture, Undyed, Braided, X-1 Needle, Size 2/0, 27", is a synthetic sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The suture is coated with a combination of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to improve handling and reduce tissue drag. It is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic procedures.

The suture's braided construction offers superior knot security, especially on the first throw, enhancing procedural reliability. Its pliability and strength contribute to controlled placement and secure tissue approximation. The undyed configuration is preferred in cases where minimal visibility in tissue is desired.

Coated VICRYL™ retains approximately 50% of its original tensile strength three weeks post-implantation. The suture undergoes hydrolytic degradation and is fully absorbed within 56 to 76 days, making it appropriate for tissues that heal relatively quickly and do not require extended support.
