Description

Coated VICRYL™ Absorbable Suture, Undyed, Braided, CP Needle, Size 2, 27", is a sterile, synthetic suture composed of polyglactin 910, a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is coated with a mixture of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to improve handling and reduce tissue drag.

The suture provides excellent handling characteristics, allowing smooth passage through tissue and secure knotting. Its braided structure enhances knot security, particularly on the first throw, minimizing slippage and improving surgical precision. The undyed configuration offers low tissue visibility, which is preferred in certain procedures.

Coated VICRYL™ gradually loses tensile strength through hydrolysis. It retains approximately 50% of its tensile strength at three weeks post-implantation, providing reliable support during the critical wound healing phase. Complete mass absorption occurs between 56 and 76 days, eliminating the need for suture removal.
